Here, I was trying to be a little more traditional. There's more focus on symmetry with this one, than with the first one. Again, I wanted to create variety and contrast, but not as much of it as there was in the first picture. Also, I wanted to form a sense of proportion, in how whether going up or down the line, the circles get continuously smaller, or larger. They also alternate colors- black and white. Then, I wanted to show scale and rhythm by having each circle be increasingly closer or farther away from the one above it, or below it, (depending on which way you're going) in the line of circles; plus, have the two line of circles cross each other. I think this also gave the overall result some movement and balance. I felt better about this one than I did about the first, and I think I met my goal pretty well. What do you think?
Thanks, Lisa
Again, sorry you can't see the white circles I made.

black and white project write-up pic 1
My thoughts for the first picture was to experiment with the placement of the circles, but still try to create balance. I tried to create a sense of symmetry- circular, but not "in a continuous line" as far as following it around with your eye. Variety and contrast were what I wanted to focus on the most. I'm not totally sure if I achieved my goal, but I liked experimenting with it.
Thanks, Lisa
Sorry, you can't see the white circles I placed on it. I'm not sure why-?

My Intro.
Hi all,
I thought I should post here a little something. My name is Lisa Schwab, and I am a Junior here at UMA in the Library and Information Services program. My hobbies include singing, dancing, and painting small objects. I've been wanting to take an art class for awhile, so I'm very glad to be in ART 112 - it's been interesting so far and the McCloud book is great.
*Homework assignments to be posted soon.
